YPulse’s What is Wellness? trend research proved Gen Z and Millennials believe anything that feels good (yes, including video games) can be good for their mental health—and our most recent Mental Health report reveals that still holds true. We know young people strive to have good mental health: maintaining their mental wellbeing is the most important life goal / aspiration they have this year, even above having a meaningful career or raising a family. And while YPulse data shows exercise, mediation, and walking are the top activities 13-39-year-olds do for their mental health, they’re partaking in some alternative methods to combat their stress, too. Among teens, young adults, and Millennials, there are certainly different top stressors, so they’re using different methods to quell their anxieties. Naturally, teens are not as likely to be trying substances like marijuana—but that doesn’t mean the young gen isn’t interested in new wellness ideas yet.
