Gen Z brides are reinventing the wedding dress shopping experience. Just as social media has changed so many ways young consumers shop, the modern Gen Z bride is changing the process when it comes to wedding dress shopping. The owner of a Connecticut bridal shop explains that this generation of brides “[does] their research. They’ll exhaust all of their options, and they really know their stuff.” This resourcefulness can of course be accredited in part to social media, allowing women to browse Instagram and Pinterest to get inspo from celebrity and influencer weddings. And surprisingly, Gen Z brides are also less budget-minded when it comes to purchasing their dresses, with the average gown costing $1,900, according a study from The Knot. But even if they might be splurging on their dresses, YPulse’s Weddings report data shows that overall, Gen Z and Millennials say they’d rather have a small, inexpensive wedding (74%) over a big and expensive one (26%).
