Despite the growing presence of online shopping, Gen Z and Millennials still want to shoe-shop IRL. Respondents from the two gens in a recent College Group study had an overwhelming preference for in-person shopping when it came to buying footwear. While the data revealed most consumer cohorts, especially Millennials, like to shop both online and in stores, the same didn’t hold up when it came to shoe shopping. Although online shopping seems to be dominating the retail market these days, younger gens aren’t ready for in-person shopping to go anywhere quite yet. YPulse’s Shopping & Retail report data shows that young consumers’ preference to shop in-store increased from 50% in 2021 to 62% in 2022, making it once again their preferred method post-pandemic-necessitated online shopping.
