The Former CEO of Lululemon and Reebok has some advice for companies trying to go eco-friendly with Gen Z watching. With transforming Lululemon into a billion-dollar business and running Reebok in its prime during the ‘90s under his belt, the previous CEO of both companies has some words of wisdom for brands today looking to appeal to Gen Z. He explains that because this gen grew up in the wake of a climate crisis, they are dedicated to protecting the environment, and can see right through “inauthentic brand messaging” that many companies try to promote. With the issue of single-use plastics being at the top of Gen Z’s consumer concerns, the CEO believes that retailers who take steps to ban single-use plastics rather than greenwashing their companies aren’t only “driving change, they are inspiring a shift in consumer behavior towards more conscious and responsible choices.” YPulse data shows Gen Z not only wants to see brands involved in climate action, 25% think brands / corporations are most responsible for solving climate change.
