IKEA UK is taking on Facebook Marketplace with a shop of its own.

IKEA UK is taking on Facebook Marketplace with a shop of its own. Launching in the next few months, IKEA’s “Second-Hand Marketplace” will let shoppers buy and sell pre-owned IKEA pieces directly to one another locally. This upcoming launch follows the furniture brand’s efforts to buy and resell used furniture in select stores across the U.K. While the company hasn’t shared all the details yet about the launch, the model is already live in countries including Sweden, Spain, and Portugal where it’s currently free to list and sell. (But starting in January 2027, buyers will have to pay a 5% fee to cover costs.) YPulse has told you before how big secondhand shopping is among young Europeans. By creating its own resale marketplace, IKEA is resonating with young shoppers by making it easier to find (and afford) versions of the furniture they already know and love.
