British Gen Z have a growing love for buying and dealing antiques.

May 27 2026

British Gen Z have a growing love for buying and dealing antiques. The average sales growth for antique dealers in the U.K. hit 5.8% in 2025 and is projected to continue upwards over the next four years. It turns out that young antique entrepreneurs and shoppers are both partly responsible for driving that trend. Young people’s love for secondhand antiques stems from a desire to be cost-conscious and sustainable, but also because they like to discover new, unique pieces that no one else would have—even if that means they have to spend thousands of pounds on a sofa. For the handful of Gen Z becoming full-on antique dealers, the business is proving to be lucrative, whether they’re setting up shop at flea markets or posh showrooms. (The Telegraph)
