Some Gen Z are struggling with increasing job scams.

May 06 2026

Some Gen Z are struggling with increasing job scams. Between shrinking entry-level roles and fiercer competition, Gen Z is facing a new challenge on the employment hunt: job scams. More than 132K employment scams were reported to the Federal Trade Commission last year, and that issue is only getting worse with AI tools allowing scammers to become more advanced. In some past scams, bad actors have posed as recruiters who charge counseling fees, which many recent college grads might not recognize as a red flag. According to a recent LinkedIn report, one third of Gen Z job seekers even said they ignored scam warnings on job postings because of how rare employment opportunities have become. YPulse data shows that between slim job opportunities and employers ghosting them, the majority of 18-24-year-olds say they’ve struggled to find a job recently. (CNET)
