The entire new Avatar: The Last Airbender movie was leaked on social media. Even though the Nickelodeon series ended almost two decades ago, the Avatar fandom is still strong. So when it was announced that The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender would be released in October this year, people were hyped. But this week, the entire 80-minute film was leaked to a random X user—and clips started spreading across social media faster than they could be taken down. Surprisingly, despite theatre-going success lately, the movie was set only to stream on Paramount+—which actually upset some fans enough to watch the leak now in a kind of protest. One creator on TikTok says, “Me watching the leaked AITA movie because I don’t gaf and paramount needs to give it a theatrical release with limited popcorn buckets, cups, keychains.” The discourse could push a change to a big screen release though, to draw young fans’ loyalty back in. YPulse predicted that Gen Z would transform movie-going experiences this year, so Paramount might have an opportunity to turn this around if they listen to fans. (The Tab)
