Gen Z takes the cake for the generation with the biggest sweet tooth. As it turns out, the “sweet treat” generation is in fact consuming more sugar than any other age demographic. According to a new survey by Talker Research, nearly three quarters of 14-29-year-olds in the U.S. say they need between one and six servings of sweets every day. And those sweet indulgences add up; according to the American Heart Association, Americans consume up to around 60 pounds of added sugar in a year. The research also shows that almost all Gen Z and Millennials consider themselves “sweet treat people.” YPulse’s Gen Z Vices trend report shows that young people’s favorite indulgences are treats like soda and junk food, with the majority of Gen Z admitting that eating unhealthy food is their top vice. Half of 18-24-year-olds even tell YPulse they treat themselves to a soda when they’re feeling down. (The Independent)
