Sesame Street is teaching kids about Black hair with Gen Alpha’s favorite rapper and Dove. The brands teamed up with seven-year-old VanVan, the social media star turned Abbott Elementary actress, to release the song, “Good Morning Hair Routine.” The music video features VanVan with Elmo and friends singing about protective styling steps and products like bonnets, wide-tooth combs, and barrettes. The show is also rolling out educational posts breaking down the history of styles like box braids, cornrows, and Zulu knots for young audiences—framing Black hairstyles not as trends but as cultural traditions dating back thousands of years. The partnership ties into Dove’s CROWN Coalition, which has been fighting hair discrimination for years. (TheGrio, Sesame Street Facebook)
