A UA student went viral for an accidental email going to 40K students.After sending an honors society application to the group’s full mailing list, Hector Gutierrez became an instant campus celeb. Friends started letting him know they’d gotten it, but quickly realized everyone had—and they were talking about it on TikTok, Instagram, and even Yik Yak. (Apparently that still exists for Gen Z.) Now, searching for videos about just “Hector” on TikTok are all about him. Another student with nearly 100K followers posted an interview with him, pulling in almost 1M views in the last two days, which got reactions saying this is the kind of story that would make Ellen a decade ago. All the buzz has gotten Hector trending outside his school: the Atlanta Hawks, the 49ers, and Barstool sports have all posted about him.
