Speaking of employment…more young people in Europe are juggling work while studying. New Eurostat data shows 25.4% of 15-29-year-olds across the EU were doing both in 2024, slightly up from 23% in 2021. Research shows this is largely driven by financial pressure, but also by students seeking experience to boost their employability with real skills. There’s also a wide range of difference by country: in the Netherlands, nearly 75% of 15-29-year-olds work and study, while in Romania, less than 3% do. Experts note that motivations vary by country and sector, and the broader labour market conditions also shape whether young people take on paid work. Still, most students don’t combine the two: over 70% of young Europeans remain outside the labour force while in higher education. (Euronews)
