A TikTok duo is eating their way through every country on earth, in NYC. The TikTok account @tastebuds_nyc launched in November with a simple premise: spin a wheel, land on a country, and find its food somewhere in the city. They’ve only done 10 so far, but their Bhutan episode—where they found the city’s only Bhutanese restaurant—shared a meal with the owners, and got invited to their New Year’s Eve party—pulled over 5M views and drove real foot traffic to the spot. One viewer called them “zoomer Anthony Bourdain,” and the comparison tracks; their content is centered more on genuine human connection across cultural lines than food reviews. With 185 countries left to check off, their comment sections are already flooded with restaurant recommendations for each country, turning the two-person project into a citywide crowdsourced food map.
