Introducing “choppelganger,” Gen Z’s new word for their uglier lookalike. The term mashes up “chopped”—Gen Z slang for unattractive—with “doppelgänger” and is used to describe someone who looks almost exactly like them…just noticeably worse. It started when an X user misread a TikTok with the caption “POV: Your husband is Kendrick Lamar’s doppelganger,” writing they “read this as ‘choppelganger’ and I think I just made a word.” The term then exploded in late December after a TikTok explaining it hit 3.4M views. Now it’s everywhere, with most users turning it on themselves—if they don’t have a choppelganger, they might be the choppelganger. (The Daily Dot)
