YouTube is building on livestreaming to make creator commerce the new default. The platform is expanding its ecommerce empire through a new partnership with TalkShopLive, which will let creators and brands sell directly through YouTube without redirecting fans offsite. Like on TikTok, this makes every livestream a storefront. The platform says 61% of 14-24-year-olds already discover new brands on YouTube. And as we know Gen Z trusts YouTubers more than anyone else, it strengthens YouTube’s edge over TikTok Shop by pairing commerce with creator trust, as YouTube reports 43% among 14-24-year-olds feel more connected to brands that work with creators. With this move, YouTube is positioning itself not just as a competitor to TikTok Shop, but as Gen Z’s ultimate commerce engine where how they shop and who they shop from are merged. (tubefilter)
