We called it: Netflix will stream Spotify podcasts next year. In 2023, YPulse predicted podcasts would become the franchises to watch in the coming year, and that with their growth would come official, big-screen streaming. And while popular podcasts have been added to viewing menus like United flights one by one, select Spotify podcasts will be hitting Netflix in 2026. Video podcasts have been on the rise as listeners—especially young ones—have increasingly come to prefer watching podcasts, and on their televisions at that. Between YouTube and Spotify, podcasts are essentially the new standard talk shows. Licensing with Netflix will surely create a wider audience reach for hosts, but ultimately is a bump for Netflix, too, in keeping up with Gen Z’s media trends. (Variety)
