A rug creator asked to trade with a Gap store, but they said no—and PR is jumping on it. TikToker Simji is known online for creating custom rugs, surprising celebs (like the cast of Freakier Friday and Lakers players) with them or taking them to brands’ stores asking for a trade. She’s been successful with Crumbl, Chamberlain Coffee, AMC, and more, pulling in millions of views in the process. But when she went to a Gap store last week seeking out a trade for some KATSEYE collab denim, the store unfortunately turned her down. The video got over 13M views and commenters were bummed on her behalf—some even saying they’re giving Gap the side eye for it. Even on the official Gap account, comments poured in about Simji on completely unrelated posts. But luckily, their official PR team got in the comments right away, saying “We love this rug. A lot. Check your DMs! 💙,” which pulled in 128K likes of its own. If we had to guess, a video making the trade happen—or something even better—is definitely on the way, and it’s sure to drive positive reactions. (TikTok)
