The fans have been popular in Asian markets for some time, but Google Trends data shows searches for portable fans have “increased steadily over the past decade, peaking in June as intense heat waves blanketed the central and eastern U.S.” Young consumers are also being influenced by their favorite creators to get one—on TikTok, “portable fans” is the third most-used hashtag in the “Tech & Electronics” category. As for where they’re buying these tiny fans, young people are scoring them from their favorite low-price brands like SHEIN, Temu, and Amazon, sometimes for as little as $4. (NBC)
