Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters is seeing even more massive success thanks to Gen Z. ICYMI, the latest animated universe young people are loving is that of KPop Demon Hunters, a movie following K-pop girl group HUNTR/X who double as secret demon slayers. The film—which is actually in English—has reached its seventh week in Netflix’s top ten with over 158M views, and three of the fictional songs used in the movie (sang by real artists) made the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, “Golden” by HUNTR/X peaked at number one, making it only the ninth K-pop song to do so. Now, it’s moving to select theaters for a weekend for even more engagement. (Yes, sing-alongs.) The hype around the movie is likely due to Gen Z’s engagement with Korean titles—new data from Parrot Analytics reveals that “three of the five most in-demand global music artists in the first half of 2025 are Korean, with their fan bases heavily skewed toward Gen Z.” Plus, they report that almost 60% of audience engagement with Korean artists comes from Gen Z.
