Walmart’s new immersive online storefronts are aimed at Gen Z and Gen Alpha. According to data from Walmart, 47% of Gen Z are engaging in immersive digital experiences, and 70% of young consumers prefer fun shopping experiences. And while the brand is not new to gamified, digital shopping spaces, the retail giant is launching “the boldest wave of new immersive storefronts yet” starting with in-store themed spaces like K-POP Era, Lo-Fi Playing, and Rodeo Dreams. Each category will involve curated products, mini-games, and influencer-driven storytelling, building on Walmart Realm’s 2024 launch and paired with Walmart Delivers pop-up events. It’s an especially timely move as YPulse data shows 70% of 13-17-year-olds agree that online shopping should be an experience, and 44% of teens would even like more virtual reality store experiences to help them shop.
