Newer cars with Apple CarPlay built in typically play a short jingle when started up, kind of like how an iPhone makes a sound when plugged in. But young people’s latest, oddly specific trend is hacking it to play “literally any sound” they can think of—from Spongebob screaming to a Hannah Montana transition. In true Gen Z fashion, they’re getting very creative when connecting their phones to their cars, and many have gone viral for their outrageous song and sound choices. For example, one video of a young driver using the “Do it lady” soundbite from The Chit Show as a CarPlay sound (talk about getting trend-meta) has over 30K likes.
