Snapchat is partnering with a sports media company to bring attention to female athletes. Through a new initiative called Snap the Gap, Snapchat and TOGETHXR—a media company founded by iconic women athletes—are working with nine rising stars across leagues like the WNBA and NCAA to grow their personal brands on the app. The program will offer mentorship and content strategy advice to help their athletes monetize their personal stories (no pun intended). This partnership comes at a time when interest in women’s sports is rising among young people—YPulse data shows that young sports fans are +5pts more likely to watch women’s sports compared to last year—and teens are the leaders of Snapchat usage.
