Boat shoes are in, according to Gen Z. Once reserved for yacht decks and Ivy League style, the boat shoe is being reimagined by Gen Z and their favorite brands. The new look includes slim cut versions and have a more undone vibe to them than the original shoe. Luxury labels like Miu Miu, Dior, and Sacai have launched their own spins on the staple shoe, while more affordable brands like Sperry are teaming up with emerging labels like Collina Strada and Todd Snyder to keep the classic look feeling fresh. One boat shoe from a Sperry x Aritzia collab has even been restocked three times since its launch in March. Influencers are pushing the trend by styling them in videos, pairing them with capris and micro shorts in true “yuppie” fashion style. According to YPulse, 59% of 13-39-year-olds say they’ve bought something recommended by an online celeb, and boat shoes are clearly riding that wave. (BoF)
