Tinder just announced a new double date feature. “Double Date” allows friends to pair up, match with other duos, and create group chats with each other. The dating app says the idea was born from the young singles’ desire for a “low-pressure, group first way to explore the world of dating.” And with YPulse datashowing 27% of European Gen Z and Millennials join dating apps to find new friends, and 36% join just to “see what’s out there,” it could be a winning move for more casual connection. Users can choose up to three friends to pair up with to scroll through duos, and only one like per pair is needed for a match. According to Tinder, their new feature is creating more matches already, with women three times more likely to like a duo than they were to like individual profiles, and individual singles sending 35% more messages in double date chats compared to one-on-one.
