Mushrooms—not the pyschedelic kind—could be Gen Z’s next big wellness trend.

Mushrooms—not the pyschedelic kind—could be Gen Z’s next big wellness trend. YPulse has long reported on young people’s journey to redefine wellness including a shift towards sobriety. Now, in place of other substances to de-stress, functional mushrooms have surged in popularity, creating a market projected to reach $23.3B by 2030. According to the New Hope Network’s Nutrition Business Journal, Gen Z is +10pts more likely to consume mushrooms than their older counter parts, and is drawn to different varieties for different reasons: Lion’s Mane for focus, Reishi for calming effects, Chaga for immune support, and Cordyceps for energy, to name a few. They’re consuming them in everything from beverages, gummies, and capsules to power blends, and with healthy beverages on the rise, mushroom-infused drinks could become a new trend for brands to join.
