Experts actually find no connection between screentime and “brain rot” in tweens. Researchers at Oxford found among nearly 12K nine-12-year-olds in the U.S., there was “no link between screen time and brain connectivity or well-being.” While “brain rot” is a term now largely associated with the content tweens consume online or slang phrases they use, it appears the “rot” is an exaggeration. And while it is true that tons of young people feel addicted to their phone—even YPulse data confirms it—that doesn’t mean they’re losing actual brain functionality the way viral articles, books, and perceptions claim. (Dazed Digital)
