Instagram announced Edits, a video editing app to rival CapCut. The announcement—only for pre-order of the app—came during the brief 12-hour period when TikTok and ByteDance’s CapCut were unavailable. And while it is not explicitly stated that it’s designed to mimic CapCut, the timing has of course raised eyebrows. However, Instagram’s head Adam Mosseri emphasized that Edits will go beyond standard video editing, describing it as a “full suite of creative tools.” The app will include features like advanced engagement insights (showing who skips certain videos), green screen tools, and overlays.
