TikTok is getting ready to shut itself down in the U.S. on January 19, unless there’s a last-minute change. It’s been reported for months that if the ban goes into effect, users who already have TikTok downloaded might still be able to use the app, but, U.S. companies will be prohibited from distributing, maintaining, or updating the app. However, sources are now saying TikTok will go dark on its own accord should the ban begin, showing users a pop-up message with a link to a website containing information about the ban rather than content. Still, they plan to allow users to download their data so they can keep a record of their personal information. (Reuters)
