Nottingham College in the U.K. is helping students with “telephobia.” The university is offering coaching sessions on phone confidence and etiquette to help students overcome their fear of making or receiving calls. According to Uswitch, 70% 18-34-year-olds prefer texting over phone calls, and 23% of the same age group admit they never answer calls. Many cite their anxiety around calls comes from it being too formal or intimidating. As a starting point, professors are encouraging students to take small steps, such as calling a restaurant to inquire about their hours or asking a store if a product is in stock. (BBC)
