Many children in France are experiencing privations, and Unicef is opening a Children’s Rights Centre to study the issue. According to a recent report by Unicef France, 16% of children experience material deprivation, 25% a lack of access to knowledge, 44% a lack of sport activities and 66% a difficulty accessing cultural activities like museums. The report also highlights that 16% of French children feel that their personal rights are not respected in their city. In response to the situation and to celebrate Children’s Rights International Day this year, Unicef decided to create a Centre for Children’s Rights in the country. It will compile data about children to better study the effects of inequalities among them. (France Info)
