Pubs in the U.K. are putting up signs to remind Gen Z of the pub etiquette.

Nov 06 2024

Pubs in the U.K. are putting up signs to remind Gen Z of the pub etiquette. The traditional way to order a drink at a British pub is to gather around the bar—and hope to get noticed by the bartender. But with social distancing rules in place during the global pandemic, people had to queue in lines, and many have kept the habit since then. Some pub owners have been deploring this cultural change and blaming it on the younger generation who didn’t go to pubs before COVID. To educate them, they’ve been putting up signs across the country explaining how pubs are different from other places, with signs like “This is not a Post Office, there’s no need to queue like one.” (DailyMail)

📊 YPulse data: 59% of British 18-39-year-olds go out to the pub monthly or more often
