A German politician created a video full of Gen Z slang, but it backfired.

Nov 06 2024

A German politician created a video full of Gen Z slang, but it backfired. Last week, YPulse explained the trend of brands in Europe letting Gen Z write the script of TikTok videos. But while engaging with the trend authentically and with humor is possible, brands or individuals jumping on the trend always risk being perceived as cringe if they don’t get the tone right or come too late. And that’s exactly what happened to Christian Dürr, a German MP who wanted to show the German Parliament in a cool way. His videos received lots of thumbs down, with people saying the MP was trying too hard to appear cool in the video and that it was a perfect definition of what cringe means. (The Guardian)
