Zara’s “Pre-Owned” platform is expanding to the U.S.

Zara’s “Pre-Owned” platform is expanding to the U.S. Pre-Owned allows customers to repair, resell, and donate their clothing—even with direct home pickup for donating—from the brand, but was previously available only in Europe (where the brand is based). According to Zara, their donation program specifically has recovered over 20K tons of garments and shoes last year, and they anticipate this figure will continue to rise. The resale platform gives shoppers, especially eco-minded young ones, the option to shop secondhand items identified through an AI model, but also participate in “a circular economy” by fixing items to offset waste. The expansion of Pre-Owned also aligns with the brand’s bigger picture sustainability goals: reducing their emissions to neutral by 2040 and using less negatively impactful textiles. (WWD)
