Americans spend big on their pets, and Gen Z leads the trend. A Talker Research survey shows that Gen Z (12-27-year-olds) are spending an average of $149 monthly on their pets, and Millennials follow closely at an average of average $136. And regardless of age, the survey also found that 88% of Americans view their pets as another family member, with several pet brands noting this is especially common among younger gens. Young pet owners are frequently opting to invest whatever is necessary in vet care and services to ensure their animals remain healthy over time—and more than half of all pet owners overall think it’s within reason to purchase luxury products and services for them.
