The British government is banning junk food ads.

Sep 18 2024

The British government is banning junk food ads. The Labour Party, the new government in power in the U.K., wants to help the struggling national health system by moving “from sickness to prevention.” To prevent children from developing unhealthy eating habits with long-term health consequences, the government will be shielding them from junk food ads. Brands will be banned from advertising products that are high in fat, sugar, and salt from October 2025. Ads for such products won’t be possible even online, while ads aired on TV will only be allowed after 9pm. (BBCThe Guardian)
