Fan app Holoplus let users share content about their favorite VTubers—but it quickly took a wrong turn. The fan-gathering app from Tokyo’s VTuber agency Hololive launched on August 22. But initially, the forum was unmoderated, lacking filters for NSFW content and spam protection. While some users engaged positively, others exploited the lack of oversight to “doxx” (publish private information) Hololive talent by sharing private photos and locations. As a result, the app was temporarily taken down to remove its harmful content, but it has since relaunched with moderated and stricter forms. Given the rising trend of creators being doxxed or swatted, many fans were surprised by the initial lack of strict guidelines. (Tubefilter)
