Instagram is testing a location mapping feature similar to Snapchat’s.Earlier this year, the platform referred to its new feature as Friend Map during its initial development. It will allow users to share text and video updates based on their location—like Snapchat’s Snap Map has for some time now. But Instagram says it wanted their feature to offer enhanced privacy, so users must select a certain group of their followers that are able to view their map. Instagram once had a brief photo feature that allowed users to view all their images on a map, but it was not visible to other users and the brand reported that not many people utilized it.
