Some Danish students will enjoy a later start to the school day.

Jul 31 2024

Some Danish students will enjoy a later start to the school day. After a two-year trial, 20 schools in Denmark are now officially changing their opening hours so kids come later in the morning. The move is motivated by research suggesting many teenagers aren’t getting enough sleep, and that it negatively impacts their mental health. Students who participated in the experiment reported better sleep quality, increased energy, and better social interactions. However, according to the report of the experiment, simply delaying the start of the day is ineffective if kids aren’t also taught “healthy screen use.” (Euronews)
