TikTok is under scrutiny for releasing a reward program in France and Spain. Last week TikTok quietly launched TikTok Lite so users can earn points by watching content and convert them into vouchers. The EU was quick to address TikTok and ask for more details, including a “risk assessment” of the new platform. The European Union is concerned about the impact that social media is having on young people’s mental health and recently launched the Digital Services Act (DSA) to compel major tech companies to better protect them.
