The EU is going after major tech companies to protect young users. The EU Digital Services Act (DSA), which mandates strict regulations for tech platforms with over 45M EU users, is now effective. In practice, the DSA is compelling major tech companies and search engines, including Facebook, TikTok, and Google, to enhance user protection—especially for children. For example, TikTok officially declared that “users in Europe aged 13-17 will also no longer see personalised advertising based on their activities on or off TikTok.” (BBC)
