Columbia University cancels in-person classes and students are arrested amid pro-Palestine protests. Several protestors, many students, were detained at pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Yale and NYU on Monday, after failing “to vacate a plaza where they had gathered” in tents overnight. Similarly, an encampment at Columbia resulted in the arrest of more than 100 students for trespassing. In turn, Columbia and Barnard have suspended numerous students involved in the protests. Nationwide campus protests in response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are escalating, with students, faculty, and more in debate over not only U.S. involvement, but the role universities play with investments.
