Hulu and Disney+ have officially launched as a unified service. Even though it still exists as its own app, Hulu is now fully incorporated as a tile within Disney+, alongside brands such as Marvel, Pixar, and National Geographic. Though the services have been packaged subscriptions for some time, the library combo was a bit of a controversial choice (especially for parents). Integrating the two apps requires over 100K individual assets to be moved, along with re-encoding all Hulu’s video files so they can be streamed on the newer platform. Ultimately, the objective is to take all of Disney’s streaming services, and potentially Disney as a whole, into this unified platform. (The Verge)
