Climate change is a major reason young people may rethink having children.

Mar 21 2024

Climate change is a major reason young people may rethink having children. When asked in a recent Lancet Planet Health study, 36% of teens and young adults stated they were hesitant about having children due to the effects of climate change. The escalating climate crisis has sparked conversations about the potential health and emission impacts, with some people even saying having kids at this time would be an “incredibly courageous thing to do.” The majority (68%) of Americans reported that the future made them feel frightened, so simply bringing a child into a world they already feel is declining does not make sense for some.
