Cyber-attacks are a growing concern for young students. One cyber security firm found 108 school districts had been hit by cyberattacks in 2023, more than twice as many as in 2022. Districts possess information on various valuable personal information, including everything from suspensions, household income, and court orders to medical records. Hacks can lead to information being exposed when children are finally reaching adulthood—for instance, through college applications, job interviews, and even court hearings. Not only can the long-term consequences be exhausting, but it can also bring families into the picture and target their information as well. (NPR)
