Etsy’s new artificial intelligence feature “Gift Mode” aims to alleviate the stress associated with finding the perfect gift. The idea came from a survey conducted by Etsy that revealed 71% of participants experiencing anxiety while shopping for gifts in the past year. The feature is essentially an online quiz that uses AI to ask users about the recipient and the occasion, as well as the recipient’s interests. Pre-set AI-generated gift guides are organized around different personas, such as “The Music Lover” or “The Pet Parent” and can be customized for different occasions. Etsy plans to continuously update and expand the guides to include new interests and trends.
