This Gen Z Formula 1 star will not slow down any time soon. Max Verstappen, 26-years-old, just won his third consecutive World Championship and this seems like just the beginning. In his quest to usher in the new generation of F1 drivers, Verstappen created a personal brand to build an esports community with computer sim racing. He told WSJ, “Some of the sim racers are people who ran out of money sometimes and couldn’t afford to keep on going with go karting. Then you also have these people who never touched a go kart…and they never really get an opportunity to race a real car.” Verstappen’s age and his ferocity in perfecting his craft have established him as an athlete to watch in the racing world. While YPulse’s Sports and Athletes data shows only just over one in 10 young people say they’ve watched racing in the last year, it’s undeniable how viral F1 has become, making racers like Verstappen full-out influencers.
