Canopy is a new peer-to-peer social networking app designed for content creators to connect. Founded by Ayomi Samaraweera, a former TikTok employee and TikToker, Canopy is launching a pilot program with plans to onboard 1K influencers, mainly focusing on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle niches. The app is open to creators from various platforms, and anonymity is encouraged to create a safe space for sharing industry experiences and information. Canopy also plans to explore monetization options, including a subscription service, a research marketplace, and a community management section for talent agencies and companies. Plus, a reward system called “Aura Points” will be introduced to reward creators for their engagement. (TechCrunch)
