Six Gen Z climate activists are suing the European Union. After experiencing years of wildfires, droughts, and eco-anxieties, six young people from Portugal decided to sue the EU. While this is not the first time we’ve seen young activists suing their government on the basis of climate change, this case is unique because these young activists are arguing the EU is failing at protecting them from climate change now—as opposed to a hypothetical future threat.
