Lyft’s latest feature pairs up female and nonbinary drivers and riders to make them feel safer. The new Women+ Connect setting is being implemented following reports of sexual assault and harassment documentations from female drivers. The company worked on this feature with the help of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives (NAWLEE), and the National Sheriffs’ Association Traffic Safety Committee with the intent to “encourage a more accessible, equitable ride-share experience, including a safer riding environment.” YPulse’s Causes / Charity & Activism Report shows that sexual harassment / abuse is amongst the top eight social causes / issues that Gen Z and Millennials are most passionate about.
