Venice is expected to start a tourist tax to fight overtourism. In response to UNESCO’s concerns about the impact of mass tourism on the historic Italian city, Venice decided to trial a daily fee of €5 to visitors during the high season. And it just so happens that Aveiro, the “Venice of Portugal,” has announced a similar tourist tax in the hope of mitigating the negative effects of overtourism.
